Brief presentation

Kushner and Witkoff brought a revised US peace proposal to Moscow, structured into four thematic documents. While Putin rejected several elements, he used the visit to reshape the format of the talks themselves. Russia now treats the US as its main negotiating counterpart, with Europe sidelined and Ukraine expected to engage on terms that are essentially unacceptable for Kyiv.

Much now depends on whether the US is ready to commit to institutional, inter-agency negotiations with Russian counterparts.

SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENTS

  • Putin’s visit to India: Attempting to untangle financial riddles in bilateral trade.

  • Putin’s visit to Bishkek: Russia offers nuclear power and weapons to reinforce CSTO influence.

  • Orbán in Moscow: Hungary eyes Lukoil assets and signals readiness to host US–Russia talks.

  • Banks vs marketplaces: A sharp conflict erupts between major banks and marketplaces.

  • The Dolina case: A property dispute becomes a rare, high-level confrontation involving the courts and political elites.
