Tatiana Stanovaya is one of the leading experts on Russian politics.

Areas of expertise regarding domestic policy: power struggle within the political elite of Russia, fight among influential groups, interaction between the business world and the government including informal links within the Russian government, legal and normative regulation of various sectors of the economy, analysis of the lobbying capacities of financial and industrial groups, formal and informal governmental decision-making mechanisms.

Areas of expertise regarding foreign policy: analysis of lessons learned as to energy-related relationship between the CIS countries and Europe, gas wars and facets of the restoration of the Russian-American relations.


Born in Moscow in 1978, Tatiana Stanovaya began to work as a political analyst while still in college.  Her first job (beginning in 1998) as a policy analyst was with the Moscow representative office of one of the world’s largest steel making companies – «Severstal». In 2000, she began working at the PR agency «Tels-Media» whose main client was «Severstal».

In 2003 she transitioned to one of the oldest and most respected Russian think tanks “Center for Political Technologies” where she quickly became the head of the analytical department. At the same time, she earned her master’s degree at Moscow State University, specializing in public administration.

At the Center for Political Technologies she prepared key analytical products on the subjects of Russia’s domestic and foreign policies. Here analyses were distributed on a subscription basis among such clients as foreign embassies in Moscow, major business organizations, the Russian government and Presidential Administration, regional governors, and political parties. She also participated in preparing sociological studies on the issues of political and reputational risks for clients (Novatek, SberBank, AvtoVAZ)

She has been residing in France since 2010, where in addition to her main duties for the CPT she also was the Center’s representative in France.

In March of 2018 she founded and is now in charge of her own political analysis firm R.Politik.
